- Hi,
-
- I'm trying to understand how Windows controls and initializes the
- 16550 UART's. I get several comm overruns during a SLIP session using
- my 28800 USR Sportster, and I'd like to get accurate 16550 UART
- readings so I can attempt to eliminate the overruns. Is this
- possible?
-
- I'm using a 4 16550 UART, serial port-IDE card, (actually 2 Modular
- 16C552's). The model is a SUN-6343S. I purchased this card at
- Jameco. The comm driver that came with it is Startech's
- "Starcomm.drv", and I'm using their protocol in the "system.ini" file.
-
- In DOS, I'm able to quary the interrupt trigger levels using
- "Portinfo" (from the CTS Serial Port Utilities); but in Windows, I'm
- never shure what the levels are because after leaving Windows, checks
- of the interrupt trigger levels are not consistant. Of course, I made
- the appropriate Windows levels setting in "system.ini" according to
- the comm driver spec's.
-
- Does anyone have experience with this board? I don't think anything
- is wrong with the board, I'd just like to figure out, and verify, if
- the trigger level settings right, (or even if the FIFO's enabled) in
- Windows.
-
- Any help on this?
-
- Mark
